Hong Kong Self-Operated Parcel Locker Network: The Manufacturer Steps In
A special case: the operator of these lockers is LinQu itself. LinQu deploys and operates its own smart parcel locker network in Hong Kong, working with mainstream e-commerce platforms for parcel deposit, covering outdoor and indoor sites, with YedPay and EFT Pay integration for Alipay, WeChat Pay, Visa/Mastercard, and PayMe — we use and test our own product every day, as an operator.

Die Herausforderung
Hong Kong's last mile is squeezed by three costs at once:
- Expensive labor — with some of the world's highest labor costs, neither door-to-door courier delivery nor staffed pickup counters can make the unit economics work;
- Difficult delivery — extreme residential density and complex building access mean nobody-home is the norm; failed first attempts and redelivery eat what little margin each parcel carries;
- Expensive floor space — at Hong Kong rent levels, opening a dedicated pickup store is barely viable. A last-mile node only works if it is compact, unattended, and running around the clock.
Stacked together, these three costs make the traditional labor-heavy model unworkable in Hong Kong. What the city needs is pickup infrastructure that depends on neither manpower nor large floor space — exactly what smart parcel lockers are built for.
Die LinQu-Lösung
Rather than waiting for a customer to buy the cabinets, LinQu stepped in itself — deploying and self-operating a parcel locker network in Hong Kong, while partnering with mainstream e-commerce platforms so platform parcels can be deposited directly into the lockers. That makes this case different from an equipment sale: the manufacturer is also the operator.
Locker banks are designed around each site, not the other way round.
- Outdoor sites: custom brand-orange cabinets with an integrated canopy; powder-coated, rust-resistant finishes for Hong Kong's humid, rainy marine climate; raised moisture-proof bases. A single site combines a main cabinet with multiple extension cabinets — compartment numbering runs past 120 — with the control screen placed centrally for easy operation.
- Indoor sites (malls, walkways, and other footfall nodes): multiple cabinet banks in an L-shaped wall layout to maximize limited space; predominantly high-density small compartments matching a parcel mix dominated by cross-border e-commerce packets; top-mounted security cameras for protection and dispute evidence.
Payment covers every Hong Kong habit. Through local third-party platforms YedPay and EFT Pay, one integration opens Alipay, WeChat Pay, Visa/Mastercard, and PayMe — users pay the way they always do. Power follows Hong Kong's 220V / 50Hz, Type G standard.
Last-mile infrastructure for platforms. E-commerce parcels are deposited straight into lockers by the delivery side and collected by users with a code — giving platforms a Hong Kong-wide self-pickup network at minimal marginal cost. Cabinet bodies also reserve brand and advertising zones as a supplementary revenue path for the network.
Ergebnisse
- The locker network answers Hong Kong's three last-mile costs head-on with "unattended + small footprint": no staffing (fully self-service), no redelivery (couriers complete handover in one locker drop), and no storefront rent (one locker bank is one service point, fitting into building common areas and mall walkways);
- Partnership with mainstream e-commerce platforms brings steady parcel volume through the network, solving users' pickup problem and proving out the full platform-side bulk deposit workflow;
- Both outdoor and indoor site formats are validated in live operation — moisture and rust protection, compartment mix, and security cameras keep feeding real operating lessons back into product iteration;
- For buyers evaluating LinQu, the meaning is direct: the lockers you buy are the lockers LinQu runs as an operator, every day — payment integration, software back office, and hardware weather resistance have all been tested with our own money on the line.
